Daddy Bao ︎ Making Traditional Asian Hospitality Contemporary.

After 30 years running restaurants, Joe Yeung shut up shop. In his honour, his son, Frank, opened Daddy Bao - a Taiwanese bao institution inspired by his fathers story.

We collaborated with Joe & Frank to translate traditional Asian wisdom through a multitude of contemporary applications. Fortunes, handscrolls (麗州) and more.

Collectively, we wanted customers to experience a rich, meaningful & memorable slice of Asian heritage.

In collaboration with Mason London, we crafted three hanging scrolls to express Daddy Bao’s brand story & heritage - a contemporary take on the traditional ‘Lizhou’ handscroll. The scrolls depict Frank’s father Joe’s story, within which he traveled from Hong Kong to the UK in pursuit of his dream of opening a restaurant. They now hang as a wall feature in Daddy Bao.
